One year ago, a fellow artist contacted me and said she thought of me when a laundromat near her was going out of business, and she saw a pile of circular washer and dryer doors with glass fronts. I often do reverse-painting on old windows and she was thinking I could do something fun with these.
I contacted the landlord and asked if I could get the doors & it worked out! I took a couple dozen doors to my studio, and started brainstorming.
I'm excited about the results!
The paintings I've completed for Open Studios imagine the circular windows as portholes looking out to different scenes. I have about a dozen pieces completed that I'm looking forward to showing at Arc Gallery Open Studios, and 24th Street Pop-Up Gallery Open Studios. Hope you can come by and say hello.
