bts...Behind the Scenes

I was thrilled to happen upon a stash of small windows to make into paintings!
Bill and I were at a salvage yard looking for drawers for another painting project (stay tuned) when we saw a cart stacked with small windows, about 18 inches square. Reportedly they were installed in closets before electric light was readily available in San Francisco. They're very old--the glass is rippled and irregular, even containing a few air bubbles. So I had to have them. I love reverse painting on windows, and this small size is rare to find.
These photos are the pieces in process. When I'm painting on glass, I start by sketching outlines with black paint. While that was happening with these, I stacked them up, and discovered they were interesting in layers. I'm not sure what the final product will be, but wanted to share some photos along the way. Maybe this will be the start of a new direction!
Please let me know what you think!
